Well i agree with asking your vet. Also, what kind of dog is it? If its some what a pure breed try contacting its rescue. Most of the time they will come right to your home and get it. You will at least know that they have its best intentions at heart. Whatever you do don't take it to a shelter.They are all so over loaded and its traumatizing on the animal. if you absolutely have to get rid of your dog the first step would be to talk to your vet he may know of a client who is looking to add to there dog family. second i would contact the rescue groups whether your dog is pure bred or not most breed specific dog rescues will talk to you about taking them in and putting them in a foster home till a permanent home is found.
