hello, my school is very good, but they are making us choose what we want to do with our lives. And i have no idea. i am creative, artistic, good with people (i enjoy learning about religon and how people think etc.), i'm learing foreign languages, i'm in top maths and very good at science. I hate dt and anything revolving around money. Any suggestions?Career advice help please?

I always wanted to write the vocational essay that laid out my plans to become a marijuana farmer or a really innovative pimp, just to watch their circuits fry. Or, since teachers are typically recruited from the bottom quartile of their graduating class I would make a case for joining a fraternity in college, making extensive use of their files of term papers and exams, partying like I was suicidal while picking up an education degree in my spare time. Or you could change that to a business degree and then copy George W.'s curriculum vitae, including joining the Texas Air National Guard and failing at several business ventures only to end up owning the Texas Rangers, then running for Governor of Texas. I mean, it worked for him, even if it didn't work for us.
But seriously, folks. No doubt with that kind of array, you're in college prep. Here are a couple of facts that you should consider. The job that you will be doing when you graduate has not been invented yet. Currently, fifty per cent of the people who graduate with a bachelor's degree are in a totally different field.
There is a paradox here. someone who knows what he wants to do with his life when he is fifteen will undoubtedly be farther ahead when he is thirty-five than someone who groped until he was twenty-five. But, do you want a fifteen year-old kid to decide what you are going to do with your life?
You need to find the kind of work that you would do if you were not getting paid for it. It helps if you can find a rare combination of skills. I met a man who could speak, read and write Arabic and Farsi. He was also qualified at flying small jets, and he was trained to repair Slurpee machines. His job: Fly the company jet to the Middle East and repair Slurpee machines. At the point when you are happy to get out of bed and go to work, when you wake up on Christmas morning with a solution to a work problem popping into your head, you will have found your path.
I have a recurrent picture of Einstein waking up one morning, he sits on the side of his bed, stretches, yawns, rubs his eyes, and says, aloud, ';E=mc squared, why didn't I think of that before?';
well firstly, don't stress about not knowing what you want to be. I'm 24, been to University and now workign with disabled children and still don't know what I want to be. Follow your nose and do what you think sounds interesting and something will raise it's head. With your subjects etc I'd look into management for sure, but like in the NHS or something. Perhaps Human Resources... Maybe have a look in your local council's website for the kinds of jobs going there. I too, can't do anything revolving around money, I went into sales for a bit but just found it so souless.
To be perfectly honest, most people in college have no clue what they want to do with the rest of their lives. Some people get degree's in something and don't get involved in that degree-oriented career at all after college.
Find something thats a good spot between what makes you happy, and what can make you money, because you really need both.
Some kids choose degrees in Art, are completely happy with it, but are broke because they cant get jobs after college - and then become unhappy people because they've spent a portion of their life to become part of a career and are now having a tough time. Some kids choose a field of study that they know makes them completely unhappy (Finance anyone?) but makes them a lot of money... so while they are miserable at their jobs, they do enjoy the money and are content with their financial security.
The point is, try to find something that makes you happy, and if you are going to college -- find something that you know will be worth the investment of your future and education.
How about becoming an artist
I would say a career field in Psychology might suit you... Give it a try if you are willing.. Try it out..
Yes, it is hard to choose...
Maybe cultural anthropology is something for you? Check this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_an鈥?/a>
I think it is really interesting.
Good luck!
