honestly, which would be a better diet?
i've been a vegetarian for a year
apparently, it's a better diet than being an omnivore;
however, i've become anemic (sp?)
and even though my acne cleared, my eyes are brighter and my skin practacally glows,
i'm shorter, i'm getting alergic reactions to things i wasn't ever allergic to before, and i'm all of a sudden studdering
i can't change my vegetarianism- i've been one for a YEAR and thats hard to just- stop doing, so help me?Vegetarianism; i need some help/advice?
The anemia means you aren't getting enough iron. Eat more potatoes, spinach, etc. It wouldn't hurt to take an iron supplement.
As for getting shorter (???) and stuttering and the allergies... I do not think that is related. You should see a doctor about that stuff.Vegetarianism; i need some help/advice?
The Vegetarian Resource Group (www.vrg.org) has a list of iron-rich foods. But beans/pulses and leafy greens are among them. Also make sure you eat lots of vitamin C-rich foods to help with iron absorption. I read somewhere that because veg*ans get so much vitamin C, it's probably why there's not a huge incidence of anemia among veg*ans. If you find dark green leafies too bitter, mix them in with something. At a cooking demo I went to recently, they sauted kale and poured pasta sauce over it, warmed that up and served it with whole wheat penne. It was really GOOD.
Yes, this is not related to vegetarianism. You may just not be eating healthfully. If you are starving yourself or not getting the right nutrients maybe your neurological system is messed up. Go see a doctor and a dietitian.
the studdering could be neurological due to lack of essential vitamins...definitely go and see a dietician and pcp.

super easy to fix the iron situation: eat eggplant that has so much iron in it!
You can just slice the eggplant and grill it and put it in snadwaiches with other grilled veggies.
for recipes for eggplant go to

eat foods high in iron such as spinach and any other green leafy vegetables, take iron supplements, drink soy milk, eggs, mushrooms, red beans, etc.
