I've had a few fusion operations. It's normal to be scared. I know I was.

Trust your doctor. They are the best and only one you want to listen to. That's why they make the big bucks!!

The day you check in they will start helping you feel comfortable and help you start to relax. It really will be over before you know it. If you are extra nervous let them know,, if you have any questions, ask them. Surgery staff have always been great to me.

Since you are going to have some time off here are a few links to sites that will come in handy for you. Good luck with the operation. I hope you recover quickly.

The last two you may want to check out before the surgery. That way you have a good idea what to expect and will understand what is going to happen. I know I looked into it a lot before my second operation and I felt far more comfortable knowing what was going to happen.

When you get out if you want some more links that have helped me just e-mail me. Good luck

Orthopedic docs and their nurses are my hero's. They saved my life. Thumbs up!!Contemplating lower back surgery fusion. Need advice help!?
I would like to know a little more info. What level(s) does the doctor want to fuse? What is your diagnosis? What have you had done already? What did your MRI say? What did your X-rays look like? What kind of pain do you have, where is it? Does it go down your leg(s) if so how far? Have you lost any bowel or bladder control? Have you exhausted all conservative treatment (steroid injections, Physical therapy, Anti-inflammatories and Muscle relaxants)? Feel free to email me rockandon@yahoo.com. (I have not personally had surgery, but see a lot of them)
